Are the French really more romantic?

In October 2009 I spoke on a panel at the British Ambassador's Residence as part of the "Writers at the Residence" fundraiser for SOS Helpline. The theme was "French Stereotypes", and I was asked by the moderator Bryce Corbett about the stereotype of the "Romantic French Lover" (click on the photo to see the video):

I used to think this was so; unfortunately, it is the city that exudes love & romance and not eh people. French people are almost always grumbling about something or angry at the whole world. Frankly, this is sad.

Actually... French are romantic... to women in America. French are more attracted to women of a different country; like Americans. Though French people do seem to grumble and always be angry at the world. Let me just let you into a secret...

So far in my exprience in France; the French are either A) Complete Players, B) Gay or C) Perverts. But that's just my opinion.
